Contents page analysis 2

This is the second school magazine contents page that I have analysed, I am doing this so that I can deepen my understanding of the features and style required in a good contents page so I will have a better idea when creating my own. 

This is the contents page of a typical school magazine. The significant words that stand out in this particular contents page are 'contents', the title at the top of the page in big blue letters, this automatically captures the reader's attention as it is visual, bright and eye catching. The particular connotations of this magazine is the picture of the students looking happy and hard at work, this makes the reader assume that this is a good school where students can feel comfortable and happy. 
This magazine is published by a normal everyday school and is put out once a month, the contents page is there to give the reader kind of a short breakdown of what is actually inside the magazine. 
The type of reader that this magazine is targeting is students and also their parents, I know this because of stories like 'How to get a job', 'Career ideas' and 'time managment'. These are stories that would interest students and their parents.
The students in the image in the magazine all look happy and content, I can see this because they are smiling, they also look a little embaressed as they are getting their photo taken, typical students can relate to this as no one really likes getting photos taken when they are teenagers. They are not wearing school uniform which gives the magazine a kind of casual feel. 
This contents page is similar to other contents pages as it gives the stories in the kind of breakdown, most interesting to least interesting, the stories in this magazine contents page are numbered like other contents pages also. 
The contents page looks quite cheap and plain as it is only a school magazine and probably doesn't have a large budget,  It has one picture and plain black and white writing. It is a nice layout though, sometimes less is more!
The articles featured in this particular contents page are 'clubs and activities', 'The routine', 'How to save' etc, they are articles that are very useful to students who are soon going to be new to the world of work, it's good for the school to provide students with this sort of information early on. 
The particular people represented in the contents page are the students of the school, the boys look like they just don't want to be there and a represented in a humorous and casual kind of way, the girls look more interested in the photo and look a lot more happy. 
The reason for this magazine's popularity is that it seems to take a real interest in the students of the school and provides them with important information.
